IHC
Resource Group Bulletin
September 1999
Greetings from the IHC Resource Group. We hope you all had a pleasant summer!
Web Site Change
Our
Web site domain has changed. The
new address is: http://ihc.coloradohisto.org
You
will be forwarded to the new domain from our old site.
Visit our committee table in R.I., where we will have pictures from our
web site on display.
NSH Membership
Requirement
Because
we are a sub-committee of education through the National Society of
Histotechnology, membership in NSH is required in order to participate in
the IHC Resource Group. As you may recall, membership with NSH was verified
prior to admission to the group. Once
a year, we check with NSH to make sure that our members have continued to
maintain their NSH memberships. If
you have not already done so, please do, so that you may continue to take
advantage of this service. If you
need an NSH application or renewal form, please contact Patsy Ruegg, Chair, IHC
Resource Group of the NSH, at the addresses listed at the end of this bulletin.
Tissue And Reagent Bank
Our
tissue and reagent bank continues to be maintained by Ethel Macrea in Tucson,
AZ. Ethel is the person to contact if you are in need of tissues or reagents, or
if you have any control tissues or reagents that you are willing to share with
others in the group. We are still in need of Hodgkin's tissue and we can always
use CMV probes for the IHC Qualification exam. Ethel’s contact information is listed at the end of the
bulletin.
Speaker Bank
Since
it is necessary to document contact hours in continuing education in order to be
eligible to renew the ASCP IHC Qualification, we are continuously making an
effort to try and help our group members find qualified speakers for educational
meetings. We are in contact
with several speakers, some sponsored by vendors and some not, who are willing
to speak at meetings around the country regarding IHC.
If you are planning a meeting and need speakers, contact Patsy Ruegg, and
she will try to assist you.
Product Information
In
this section, the IHC Resource Group presents information that has been shared
with group members regarding reagents and support products for
Immunohistochemistry.
Research
Genetics has
a line of IHC reagents which are reported to be of great
quality
and value. They sell a stable DAB
that may be stored in the freezer, but it does not completely freeze, so that
aliquots can be poured off directly from the bottle. It is very clean, never precipitates and needs no filtering.
Premixed enzyme digestions from Research Genetics, such as pepsin, have
also been reported to be of excellent quality and value. You may contact them at
1-800-533-4363, or at the following address:
