The IHCRG is now over 300 members strong from all over the world.  Maintaining and verifying NSH membership for our group members is an on going process. It has just been made much easier by our web master, John  McGinley as he allows us to now accept membership applications online.  Our new member packets are dispersed via the internet as well, which will save a lot of posting fees for sending these all over the world. We of course still snail mail to those who do not have email access.

We have a website for the IHCRG, where we allow membership applications to be submitted online: www.ihcrg.org  The IHCRG website is constantly being updated. New presentations have been added to the web site for reference by our members.

We have an email listserv of all our members wishing to participate. This allows us to disseminate information very quickly and cheaply.

We are a resource group of people working in IHC. We share our experiences and expertise. We also maintain a tissue and reagent bank for hard to find IHC control tissue and to help those taking the QIHC exam find the tissues they may not have routine access to in their own places of work.

Nancy Shellhorn (DAKO) and I will be presenting a workshop at the NSH  S/C in Long Beach in 2002 on “Taking the QIHC Exam”.

I attended the rescheduled CAP Her2-Neu conference May 4-5, 2002 in Chicago. This conference was originally  scheduled for 09-15-01, and was cancelled after the attacks of 09-11-01. I will be writing a synopsis on this conference for JOH.

I have been appointed assistant editor to the Journal of Histotechnology. Rich Cartun is the Editor for the JOH 2002 special issue, which will be on “Clinical Immunohistochemistry”. I will be helping Rich recruit authors and writing myself for the JOH special issue.

I have been working with some people around the country to try and establish some training in IHC. We also are considering compiling competency standards for those working in IHC.
